Illawarra Flame Trees
Description: Brachychiton acerifolius.
You should have been here last week!
Talk about crook timing! This is the exit road from the Cassegrain Winery, and it was just starting to rain. Still I did manage to capture the last of the flowering season, but it must have been spectacular the week before.
This beautiful but strange plant flowers before the leaves appear in early summer, and according to our aboriginals, the seeds are good bush tucker, and edible if roasted.
Captured at 2.30 PM, at 1/30th f16.0 and ISO-200.
