Frost at Greenbrier

Uploaded: January 05, 2013

Description

Shot this morning in the Greenbrier section just outside the GSMNP. It was 19 degrees here in the valley with thick frost. The white on the mountain ridges is rime ice rather than snow. Rime ice forms on the windward side of mountain ridges as the moisture from passing clouds freezes on the sides of tree limbs.

Exif: F Number: 32, Exposure Bias Value: 0.67, ExposureTime: 1/15 seconds, Flash: did not fire., ISO: 200, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 62.00 mm, Model: NIKON D3S
