Indiana World War Memorial at Night

Uploaded: December 19, 2012

Description

4.0s @ f/14, ISO 100, Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8 VRII @ 200mm.
This is just a close-up of the rows of Ionic columns on one face of the massive World War Memorial Building that dominates a five-block picturesque setting of War Memorial Plaza in downtown Indy. Sitting 210 feet above street level, this mausoleum-style limestone and marble memorial pays homage to Hoosiers killed during World Wars I and II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.

Beautiful, minimally distorted capture, Rona. I'm stunned by its resemblance to the War Memorial building in Trenton, NJ.

Love the architectural details and tones of this capture. It's a wonderful memorial for those that fought during the wars. The design reminds of the Greek and Roman influences. #10472716
