Tunnel Mountain aka "Sleeping Buffalo"

Uploaded: October 09, 2012

Description

One of the mountains at Banff was originally named Tunnel Mountain as the CPR was going to construct a tunnel through it for the train but the rail line was routed an easier way to Jasper instead and the tunnel was never made. From this view (on the Bow River) the mountain appeared to be a sleeping buffalo (head to right, rump to left) so it has been called "Sleeping Buffalo Mountain" by the locals.

Wide open spaces like this are so beautiful and majestic. Breath taking vastness of colors, sights, and sounds. Love the composing over the body of water, all the pine trees and the gorgeous mountain. This must have been so exciting my friend. #10362435
