We don't get good artichokes up here where I am. They are shipped too far and for too long. The leaves are loose, not tight as they should be...I tried to make them a few weeks ago. They never did boil to soft. :( I used to steam them in California with good results. I just can't remember for how long, and if they can toughen if over steamed....? :D

These look delicious and so do the asparagus! :P

ON THIS SUPER FINALIST!

Description

---
What can I say? I have loved steamed artichokes ever since someone taught me how to eat them in San Francisco about 15 years ago. Actually, it was Half Moon Bay, at a restaurant adjacent to an artichoke field. It's never been QUITE THAT GOOD since!
----

This was shot at a Farmers' Market in Chestnut Hill (Philadelphia) Pennsylvania after the Germantown Photo Shoot last June.
