Johnston Canyon

bridge to natural cave to view Lower Falls. Don't bring your camera here without some serious weather protection. You will get wet in the cave. The bridge material is what a large portion of this trail is made of. It straddles the river and occasionally cantilevers over it. It is one of the nicest and most exciting trails I've been on. It does climb as the river drops through the canyon. A must do!

I would be scared to death to walk over that!! Awesome view and capture! #1486061Patricia A. Casey September 13, 2012
I did...and when I crawled (not really - had to seriously "duck" to get through) I got a real good soaking from the mist coming over this falls....The upper falls are even more "misty" and didn't get a good shot there...the lens just would not ever stay dry! #10321233Robert R. Hi Patricia,As hot as it was this summer.Sure would like to be there my friend.Beautiful capture, and a wonderful canyon!!!! #10322885Patricia A. Casey September 14, 2012
Yes indeed Bobby...it was wonderful to be there. This is the first year we were actually away from the Valley in summer since I chose to work thru the summers and take vacations in the fall & spring....now I'm on permanent vacation which I'm still getting used to. Retirement is not what I imagined it to be...but truly I'm not complaining...it's nice! #10323014Thomas E. Hinds September 16, 2012
What a great POV, Patricia! Love this! And I bet it is an incredible experience, misty waters and all! #10325068Patricia A. Casey September 16, 2012
I did not bring my camera into the cave...as it opens to falls! I did get wet....amazing place... #10325111Dee Langevin September 18, 2012
Another wonderful capture Patricia and I love your description! You make me tired just thinking about all the hiking, up and down these trails. #10328231Patricia A. Casey September 18, 2012
Thanks Dee...had to show everyone this trail...it was truly amazing. I understand from Thomas Hinds that there is a cantilevered trail in New Mexico....I've added to my list for New Mexico.....won't have time this time going to the Balloon Fesitval...this other trail is a bit south of Albuquerque #10328251Nadia Paul September 22, 2012
