World War II Depth Charge Launcher

Uploaded: September 09, 2012

Description

Depth charges are anti submarine devices. During WWI and WWII they were filled with explosives and either launched with a launcher like this one or rolled over the side when submarines were near.

This launcher and depth charges were photographed on the decommissioned Destroyer Escort USS Slater. The Slater saw much action in both the North Atlantic and Pacific during WWII.
