For Dale's September Challenge dealing with "HANDS"...I chose this one of Kadence at 11 days old in the palms of her daddy's hands... #1484504

Very classic and superb entry for the challenge Susan. Thanks for getting it started. And the shape of the hands with her in the basket is wonderful. #10309649

Susan, I, too, LOVE how her hands are posed. I'll bet you are having a ball taking pictures of her. #10310420

Elaine Hessler September 05, 2012

Wow-how do you do that??? And get them to sleep too? I have nothing to say, but WOW! Oh, and really beautiful:) #10310444

Wonderful images Susan! She is a darling little girl.

Elaine the trick is to get the babies to be fast asleep before taking pictures :) #10310488

Thank you everyone...yes, the key to getting good newborn portraits is to do them within the first two maybe three weeks...that's when they sleep the most, after that it's tricky!

Here are two where she's holding up her head with her own little hands...and yes, they are so fun to photograph! #10311190

'He's got the whole world in his hands' is just timeless....love it! Great pose, composition, and lighting. My only suggestion would be to either desaturate the red channel selectively on her hands and parts of her eyelids or paint over them with some skin tone. :~) #10311200

These are all beautiful, Susan. #10311232

Sweet baby pics just make you smile! I prefer my babies to come by at least a week old - SOOO much easier to get them to sleep! You are so right about that!

I agree that the tone is a bit too red. Aimee has the right fix ideas :) #10312964

Very nice portraits. You must be very proud!

I agree on the red the rest looks wonderful. #10313026

So how do you get them to sleep and stay that way??? I would NEVER attempt this! I had soooo much trouble with Erin as a baby-it was impossible to get her to nap. Do you have any tricks or is the best age to do this soon after they are born? #10313530

Beth Spencer September 07, 2012

These are all great!! She is so beautiful and you did a great job with the challenge. They grow so fast and these will truly be cherished! #10313584
