I want to hang out with you, you get to go to some pretty fantastic places!

I like the com here, Lisa. It feels a tad dark, but I don't think that's a problem. I've been in the mountains during some pretty good storms and this gives me that feeling. #1484132

This is a beautiful shot!! I love the lines in it.. I also like how the fog or mist is in the background.. I do think the shadows could be opened just a small amount. #10306018

That is a nice shot, Lisa. I like the leading lines and the fog; neutral on opening up the dark.

For me, the best part is the upper falls. I like the cascades in the bottom half, but the blown hilites keep them from continuing the flow through the frame -- almost as if it were two separate images with different moods. If you can pull any detail out using ACR or Shadow/Hilite, that might help strengthen the comp some.

A crop of just the upper falls could be very nice, too. (Note: this won't be a concensus opinion, just mine.) #10306029

I'm with Jeff. Would love to be there to see this wonderful countryside. #10306567

Beautiful scenery, Lisa. Your use of composition to get us to look throughout the image is quite nice. Yes, I, too would like to visit this part of the world. You are very lucky to be where you are. #10306739

Hmmm-this is a gorgeous scene. I am wondering if a square crop would work for this (this won't be a consensus opinion either). Cropping to the right of the stream. I think the water may be overexposed in some parts, it is hard to tell.

I wish I were there.......... #10306831

Beautiful! I'm with Jeff, I'd love to hang out and go shooting with you. :)

I also think Stephen's suggestions have merit as the highlights in the water are a small problem for me. :) #10307202

Great! Next year have the Phellos meet in Nepal, that would be fun! (Fair warning; there were so many leeches there I actually got bored of pulling them off my legs and hands. At least I didn't get any in my mouth or eyes like some people in my group) #10307289

Well as beautiful as this area looks from your picture, Nepal is definitly off my list. I can't imagin leeches in the eyes and mouth much less the number you had to demove from feet and legs. UGH! #10308057

Debbra Bailey September 04, 2012

Certainly is beautiful! I enjoy the composition... if anything, I would take some off the top and right. #10308790

Gorgeous country to be sure, but off my list just from the comments about leeches! I'd like to see what Stephen's suggestions would do to the photograph.
Is there a way to clone just a tad bit of water so it doesn't break the lines of the white falls where it dips out of sight a bit to bring the continuity of the water? I know a step or two to the right would have probably taken care of that but maybe it was unfeasible at the time? Just curious... #10309003

I like what I am seeing Lisa but would be interested in any changes you make.
Leeches? Sure you weren't in DC where all those blood-sucking leeches hang out on the Hill? (a bit of political satire folks) #10309935

Aimee C. Eisaman September 05, 2012

What a magical place...was it way out there? Did you have to hike far to get ot it? I agree with some of the above comments esp. about the blown highlights. This is a tough exposure because you do have the bright area up top and then it gets very shadowy to the left. :~) I really like the composition and hope that opening up the shadows helps balance things out! #10310381

Leeches? How big were they? Did you take any photos of them. Nice shot by the way...great sense of place. #10310533
