This artifact of the past is on the Iowa State Fair grounds - as a tribute to the "good old days" when wind turbines were used on many farms in the past to pump water to above ground for livestock's drinking water. Aermotor Windmill, an example shown in this image, has an interesting 118 year business history and the company has has continuously manufactured windmills since 1888. Today - huge wind turbines are being used to generate electricity to supplement the existing electric utility companies' output. Photo taken August 10, 2012.
