Been here and done that Peter. Great capture. Were you in the same gear to get the shot?

Ever since our jount to the gardens in the rain at Salem, Oregon, I've wanted to rig a clip on my tripot to hold an umbrella and you've motivated me to get on with it. Could have used it on the sunny beach of Oceanside this week also. #1480102

Yeah, I have a friend that has rigged a mount for his tripod. He spends a ton of time shooting wildlife and it has come in handy more than once. #10273665

I notice that he's shooting a movie. My rain sleeve wouldn't work if it had to handle things like muffled microphones. #10273683

Well now that is dedication all right! :~) Nice shot of something we don't see everyday. What is that fuzzy thing on top of the camera. Is that a mic or a cozy to keep the flash warm? lol #10273949

I know that really you know what the 'fuzzy thing' is Aimee but there might be some in the wider BP world that perhaps don't. So for them, the furry thing is a 'windscreen' that reduces or eliminates the noise on a video caused by the wind striking the video recorder microphone.
And Dale, no, I took the rank amateur's way out and sweet-talked my way into the emergency crew's tent and shot from there at f5.6 at 125 sec, ISO 800. 200fl(hand-held so thankful for Canon's VR image stabilizing)
And thanks too for dropping by, Stephen and Jeff. #10274028

For any one interested, here is a link to someone's utube video clip. It had stopped raining and I am somewhere among the folks standing near the yellow ambulance.

Shooting in the rain can be interesting. A few autumns back, I went to visit my son who was, at the time, at the University of Vermont. It rained a lot of the time and my son WAS my tripod clip. He just held it over me the old fashioned way. How would one go about rigging a clip to a tripod? Curious minds want to know. #10274184

Hummm . . . looks like Oregon in the winter or spring or fall :)

He's one brave guy.

I sure would be interested in the umbrella clip for my tripod as well. It rains enough in Oregon that an umbrella clipped to my tripod would be incredibly useful! Or maybe I should just get one of those umbrella hats :) #10274210

Teresa...I can just see you now with the rainbow umbrella hat on your head! lol #10274261

Well my fine friends, as half of you are seemingly more interested in the umbrella than my image I might as well go the whole hog and tell you where you can purchase one. lol

Just be careful if you do use one that a sudden breeze doesn't deposit your camera and expensive lens on the ground. #10274314
