Nearly to thick to swim
Uploaded: March 16, 2012
These ducks were swimming around the Dawkins Lake, Macksville, NSW, at times it looked a bit hard for them to get around, as the weeds & algae were so thick. Lens aperture f/9, shutter speed 1/1250sec, focal length 130mm, ISO 800.

Wow! Hard to believe that really are swimming around in all of that! I bet they like it however. Do they eat that stuff? I'd be afraid to be a little baby duck in there DUNKING DOWN for something and not being able to see to get back up to the surface! What a cool image, Chris!!!

What a great image. I like the coot behind those ducks, looks like he is sneaking up on them :) #10040663Ann Coates March 16, 2012
I find this green stuff fascinating. When the ducks swim through it the trail behind them disappears and you would never know they had been there. Makes for a fantastic looking capture too. Great shot Chris. #10040743Kirsten Kiki Kjaer March 17, 2012
In Danish it's called "andemad" = duck food but I don't really know either if they actually eat it.John Connolly March 22, 2012
A wonderfully composed and interesting capture, Chris! Every time I drive through Macksville, I have to stop and visit this lake! #10049669Chris Ebben March 22, 2012
Thanks a lot. Wish I was still up there, it was better there than the last week here!! Hey Kiki, you weren't one of the 300 who were told they won the lottery were you? =^..^= #10049718Barbara Waldoch March 31, 2012
Terrific capture, Chris!Chris Ebben March 31, 2012
No, just another duck. It was fun watching this lot making their way around & we would have liked to stay longer but it was when Tony was starting to get sick, though we didn't know it at the time, thankfully. Pleased you liked it=^..^= #10068324Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
