Wind Power

Uploaded: March 02, 2012

Description

Parts for the wind turbines arrive by large flatbeds one piece at a time. They are trucked up the mountain and assembled with the help of a crane.
Construction for the Kaheawa Wind II project continues as the company adds 14 new turbines to the hills above Maalaea, Maui. The turbines supply energy to the west side of the island to approximately 35,000 homes.
Kaheawa Wind Power is the first wind farm in the United States to complete a Habitat Conservation Plan for species protection.
