Chesapeake and Ohio Canal
Description: C&O canal operated from 1831-1924 parallel to the Potomac river in Cumberland MD to Washington DC. Total length of the canal is 184.5 miles. The principle cargo was coal from the Allegheny mountains. Now its used for biking/hiking.
