Neptune's Nymph

Uploaded: December 18, 2011 05:55:36

Description

One of the two sea nymphs that form part of Neptune's Court, in the colossal decorative fountain in front of the Library of Congress.
She occupies a masonry niche to the right of Neptune; I liked how the half-dome of her niche suggested a scallop shell of radiating lines.
Texture layer added, along with Levels, Curves, spot clone, Soft Light layer and others.

Ps---yes, Nikki; I added a kind of grungy texture layer. The original image shows very uniform-toned, flat stone masonry (which had some surface texture; it isn't a smooth-cut marble.) #9877052

There's just something so painterly in this image - it's striking and beautiful - I'm picking it as my fave of your Dec entries - Good luck! #9920788

Thank you very much, Michelle! I don't often attempt textured editing like this, but I had fun working on this one; I'm glad you like it! #9921454
