Nice DOF and detail! #323922Jim Miotke My Courses October 09, 2005
Thanks Robert! This is a good illustration of the value of the Depth of Field Preview Button. This button, found on some digital SLR cameras, allows me to see what would be in focus in the final image. Without it, you might expect the background to end up blurry in your final image, just because it was blurry when you viewed it in the viewfinder.
By pressing this button down while trying a variety of different f/stops, I was able to see exactly how distinct or blurry the background would end up. I wanted the f/stop that would cause the people in the background to remain just enough in focus. My goal was to have the shapes recognizable as people but still somewhat out of focus.

I love the hot pink colors in the flower, outlined with white. And then with all the white and actual lights in the background. The overall effect is really BRIGHT! #1939254Kristina Daniels October 11, 2005
And this was taken with a 20D right? And this camera has this feature?Terry L. Ellis October 11, 2005
