Taking Pause

Description

This is a shot from my canoe in Garrison Lake (Port Orford, Oregon). The feel of a canoe moving silently through the still water is one of belonging. The canoe becomes part of water… part of the earth and sky. And part of the quietness… broken only by the occasional gull call that would carry a quarter-mile or more in the still air. And a colorful sunset and its reflection, makes it all even more special. Perhaps the best way to really know a lake… to belong to it… is to canoe it.
