Oak Angel

Uploaded: July 31, 2011

Description

Detail of an armrest carving in the Great Choir of Washington National Cathedral; an angel with a scroll (perhaps of music?) Each armrest is
carved differently; Noah's Ark, a wolf in sheep's clothing, a pelican plucking its breast to feed its young, and many more, each, about 6-8" in size.
The West Rose window (source of my BP minipic) by comparison is 26 feet in diameter, but blurs out in the distance, about 350 feet away.

Exif: F Number: 11, Exposure Bias Value: -0.67, ExposureTime: 1/1 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 1600, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 100.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 7D

The detail you captured in the carving is wonderful but I especially like the DOF that includes some stained glass. Wonderful composition. #9574886

Thanks so much! I want to try another attempt soon, where the rose window will surround her head. #9574906
