What a brilliant title...It takes a special person to make a portrait of a tick! #1393448

I mentioned earlier to someone, that picking a TITLE is half the fun in posting.
These guys are NASTY and when engorged pretty scary when you realize how they get that way.

Great Find and Capture

Thanks Michelle and Jack.

This photo and its title has been in my mind for years...just waiting to come into fruition.
Given the time I spend outdoors, I often find these pesky little buggers clinging to my pant leg but there never seems to be any wild grape vines around when I happen to pick up a "hitchiker".
FINALLY, last Wednesday, the two elements came together and I snipped off a piece of vine and propped it on a nearby picnic table.
Getting an aroused tick to sit still for a photo is an impossible task so I had to shoot multiple frames with the flash and hope for a few keepers.

Great photographers are not great because of their technique; they are great because of their passion.
