After The Flood Comes The Cleanup....

Uploaded: July 06, 2011 02:29:49

Description

We've started cleaning some of the mess up. I have a huge pile of debris behind my house as do two of my neighbors. The rest of it will just have to stay there, I guess, since there's nobody to pick it up and burn it. No fun in this 100+ heat.

Exif: F Number: 5.6, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/25 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 160, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 21.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XS

That's quite a bit of driftwood washed up on the shore. You almost don't notice it though because the sky just draws your eyes away. Wonderful capture. #9510066

Gord MacEachern July 06, 2011

Hi neighbor, at least it adds to this gorgeous scene Carolyn, a real beauty!! #9510073

Michelle Alton July 06, 2011

It's gorgeous, though Carolyn. And the wood will still be there come winter. There are huge piles of this stuff shoved against the piers of a large bridge over the Delaware River, in Yardley. And further downstream, below the big levee in Morrisville, it piles up on the lower banks. Last winter I watched some able-bodied guys slither down the side of the levee and then somehow climb back up (I couldn't do it EMPTY-handed) with their arms laden with stacks of drift wood. Believe me, there WILL be scavengers!

Oh Yes, this is just a beautiful capture, making the debris look ever so attractive! #9510079

The part you see in this shot will most likely be there until the water gets high enough to wash it into someone's yard. This area is below about an 8 foot drop, so to get it off the corps land where you can burn it would be quite an undertaking. The people who live down on that end are about our age and probably won't be able to clean it up. Living on the water has its drawbacks and this is one of them. #9510095

Beautiful Scene Good luck w/the driftwood.
It's those 100's in the Temp. area that I'd find most disturbing, thats HELL HOT !!!

Stay Cool
