(Of The Bear Kind!)
Well Folks...On This Last Camping Trip I Also Came Pretty Close To
A YOU KNOW WHAT!!!
And He Had The Hair Raised On The
BACK OF HIS NECK!
I think that meant he wanted me to pet him??? HeeHee...
I do not have a telephoto lens. Just a zoom...so as you can see, we locked eyes. He was close enough that I could hear him...
I'm sure whatever it was he was saying was something nice.
ANYWAY--- It's "ONLY NATURAL" To See These Beauties Where I Live Because
WE ALL LIVE HERE TOGETHER In CANADA.

Dang it - just ONCE I'd like to get through all the new pages of entries without getting booted out and having to re-sign in! That said, this big guy is a little too close for comfort, Laura - but you got a great capture! #9482143Kirsten Kiki Kjaer June 24, 2011
Does he look hungry or am I just imagining that? HAHA!Tammy Espino June 24, 2011

Thank you Barbara, Maria, Doug, Avril, Ron, Monnie, SSSWWKiki, Tammy and Steve!I'm so tickled that you like this one!!!
THIS WAS NO ZOO, I can tell you and it sure feels DIFFERENT when you see a bear that is NOT fenced in! Lol...
YES! He was HUNGRY! He was eating everything in sight. Glad he and I weren't closer. He'd have loved all the sweet McDonalds Hamburger Fat on me! Lol
I enjoyed your visits! Thanks again!

I could have sworn that I commented yesterday but I must have forgot to hit 'submit'.This is crazy how close you were. I give you kudos for actually making a detailed sharp shot. I would have been running the other way for sure.
My aunt had one about the same distance from her back door and I know for a fact that she didn't stop to take a picture of it. LOL Nice to meet you as well Laura! #9485069
John Connolly June 25, 2011
You are way too close for my liking Laura! A wonderful capture despite the risk! Well done! #9485228Patrick Rouzes June 25, 2011
It is certainly a close encounter, Laura! Wonderful greens, tones, & clarity, indeed! WTG! #9485304Laura E. Swan June 25, 2011
Mr. Tree, this guys probably EATS Moose "Heads" I wonder??? They seem to really go for berries and dandelions...? Maybe they prefer wine over beer??? HeeHee!!!Thank you also Mary, John, Paddy and each visitor. :)
YES! I did get pretty close but my secret is that I was one foot from the truck door. I was in no real danger! (But it's fun to pretend!)

Cool, Laura!Wm Nosal June 25, 2011
Sorry That's Jingling Not JunglingLaura E. Swan June 25, 2011
Motorcycles? YOU MEAN MOTORBOAT PARTS didn't you??? HA! Where were you REALLY today!? Only the shadow knows! Or the bear! NO, I had the bells on and the bear spray was left at home where we forgot it! HA!Funny!
Thanks for the visit, Wm! Sorry to hear about your boat. Hope it doesn't cost you too much to fix??? At least the FISH will be happy with you off of the lakes!

Reynaldo D. Reyes June 25, 2011
I had an encounter similar to this too and I also took a picture but it came out blurred due to camera shake caused by being scared. LOL! I'm sure he was not saying something, it was his stomach growling, you probably appeared to be a delicious snack. Like they say, in bear country you have to bring a friend. Make sure he or she is overweight and a lot slower than you. When you see a bear, run like crazy! You really do not have to out run the bear...you only have to outrun your friend. Ha! Ha! Take care Laura. #9485790Laura E. Swan June 25, 2011
Oh my gosh! Still laughing here, Reynaldo! Lol...Thanks for that super comment!!!-Laura :D #9485803
Mary K. Robison June 26, 2011
Wow, Pom! I can't believe you didn't have a shaky hand taking this, despite the proximity of your car. Some documentary recently said bears can run up to 40 mph!! #9486105Mary K. Robison June 26, 2011
The keyboard decided I was finished with the comment above, and I wasn't...I like your woodsy capture, and I especially like your bear "icon"! #9486107Laura E. Swan June 26, 2011
Well truth be told they give you warning before they have decided to charge at you. He/She never did that. He also would have run up a hill to get me so maybe he felt it would just be a hassle??We just looked at each other. I stared and he didn't so I knew he was more interested in his little walk he was on.
Somehow I picture "our" bears as NON ANGRY and "used to people" and just look at us as "those pesky tourists"...but I didn't see a TAG on the ear of this one so who knows what he thought of me. Maybe I was his first human?
I wasn't scared at all. Just excited to see him there. I was VERY close to the OPENED TRUCK DOOR. I felt secure.
P.S. NEVER get close to a Mama Bear in the Spring time however. She will kill you in a hot minute if she feels you are endangering her cubs! #9487319
Carol L. Fowler June 26, 2011
Yes- I read somewhere that when they raise the hair on the backs of their necks, growl, and charge, this really means that they want to be petted! Try it next time (still close to the truck) and let me know if that's true! LOL! And have someone else record it for us! #9487599Laura E. Swan June 26, 2011
Oh dear...I am really enjoying all of your reactions to this and Carol you made me laugh out loud...Where as Mr. Tree (Doug) made me gulp!
Thanks, you guys!
Always Happy to have you visiting!

The simple "Bear"-Necessities ?????EEK!
Yes.In all seriousness you are very right. They are NO JOKING MATTER! Not in REAL life! Pranks at Airports these days aren't funny either, if you get my drift!

Mary K. Robison June 26, 2011
Carol's suggestion above is TOO funny! Be sure to wear a flattering outfit, Pom ~ maybe green, for a great contrast with the red ... ;) #9487954Kitty R. Rodehorst-Hanna June 26, 2011
WHOA! I hope the truck door was open and the keys in the ignition! Awesome capture, NL! :-) NN #9488050Karen Kessler June 30, 2011
I'm glad this "friendly" little bear kept his distance! What a neat find. Did your heart jump out of your skin upon seeing & hearing it? I know mine would! #9497177Laura E. Swan June 30, 2011
You guys are so funny! Mary!!! Red and green, hey....and dont leave out my tanned skin tones! HA! They would all go nicely like a patch quilt! HA!*
Actually Miss Kitty, the door WAS open the the truck WAS running! No fooling! Dale was driving and I spotted the bear...I made him back up and we watched it walking. When I felt it was safe I got out quietly and moved in slowly for the shot. I never was more than 15 feet from the door!

Kalena my heart always races when I see a wild bear but more out of thrill! -IF- they take any steps towards me then FEAR sets in.
I don't scare easily. (Unless you are talking horses! NOW THEY are like GIANT DOBERMANS in MY EYES! Lol!!!)
Thanks all! Great to see you here!
-Pomma NL Lala
P.S. If anyone was wondering about the airport comment, it was a private joke from earlier...
