Summer Solstice of the Ancients.

Uploaded: June 21, 2011

Description

Petroglyphs at Lewis Canyon 41VV236 in Val Verde were created by the ancients some 2500 to 4500 year ago. The arrow to the Left point to the sunrise at the summer solstice (Today) and the arrow to right point to the sunrise at the winter solstice. These were very intelligent people and the only records we have of them are these petroglyph and the painted pictographs I am recording in a series of book entitled "North Americas Oldest Library". Today is the summer solstice honoring the ancients.

It is my dream and on my bucket list to be able to get this capture at the summer solstice sunrise someday but until then I had to do a little DD work for the presentation today. Fortunately I am good friends with the owner of this amazing place (he only lets selected individuals on and rarely) and I took the photo of the petroglyphs last year and added the sunrise effect today in CS3. Enjoy the longest day of the year. Your comments are always welcome. Emile #1387050

If you are at all interested in looking at some of the work I have done regarding preserving this rock art, trying to somewhat understand their meaning and to present it to the public you can check out my website
www.emile-abbott-photography.com and there are galleries on each shelter I have visited. My books can also be reviewed in their entirety (no reason to buy them but you can if you want) at www.blurb.com then search egabbott. If you do your critical and I mean critical review is most welcome as I hope to eventually present these to several major presses for global publication. #9471730
