Description

Typically, this is what wheat
harvest in Kansas is supposed
to look like, but, this year
we've had several problems not
only with machinery, but the
weather as well. It seems that
the rains we should have gotten
earlier this spring, is happening
now. Everyday we are being chased
back to the shed with our machines.
We have finally experienced
a typical springtime storm that
included lots of wind and hail.
I think our wheat crop is somewhat
less now after Wednesday nights
storm, that cause significant hail
damage....

BUT...Still Harvesting what we can...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK RYAN!!!
Hope Its A Great One!!!

Wonderful clarity. Hope all is fine. I think this years weather has taken a toll on every farmer and every one. Sad for all of us in the end. #9466302

Farmers here in Ohio are having a rough go this year because of the weather, too - unfortunately. Terrific scene and hope the rest of the harvest goes well! #9466303

Beautiful shot of how it should be! I've been watching that weather box show up lately with a big old storm warning right around you. #9466340

Jeana Clark June 18, 2011

Thanks Everyone!!! Yes Carolyn, even tornado warnings! Had some weird winds two nights ago, that caused damage to places around the area that was very similar to tornadic activity...only a couple miles from where we live!!! Where was the rain when we really wanted it?? LOL!!!

Thanks Again All!!!
Still in the fields and will comment
when and as I can!!

ENJOY THE WEEKEND!!!

Well composed and exposed, Jeana -- the color is great. Weather is taking its toll all over, it seems. Here along the Missouri, we are just watching the river reclaim what is hers. So much loss - of crops, of businesses, of homes, of lives. #9466353

Yes, you, Mary and Monnie are so right Nikki! My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by mother natures fury. Hard times for many! May we all overcome!

Thanks Nikki for stoppin' in!!!

The farmers here are way behind because of all the rain in the spring. The rain you should have had. Now it has been very dry and hoping for rain tonight.
Hope you don't have to much hail damage.

Marvelous capture, Jeana, I love it! One of my favorite subjects - I roam around Indiana seeking out rural agricultural images such as this (I don't have to go very far) - but you live it! It has been a very rough year here weather-wise, as well. Anyway, hope you made out OK. This is superb! CONGRATULATIONS on a well-deserved Finalist! #9567654

Congrats on wonderful finalist Jenna. I traveled through Kansas last week and spent one night (112 degrees) on my way to a Cheyenne Frontier Days Shoot. Got a touch of well needed rain that night in Oakley as it was dry as a bone. #9574524
