Beezy Bees
Uploaded: June 09, 2011
The flowers on this magnolia tree were covered with bees. You could hear the humm long before seeing the bees. They were attracted to the maroon color at the flowers center and were removing portions as they worked. You can see the shadowy shapes in the lower petals.

It's beautiful Carla, but how did you do it? Did you use a tripod with remote? I take a lot of honeybee photos and none even come close to this. #9453336Mary Dimitriw June 10, 2011
I'll second that "outstanding"!! Amazing detail and action captured! Love the comp too. #9453411Robert Jensen June 10, 2011
very nice capture and great lighting on the blossom - hope you got some closeups of just the blossoms too, as they are beautiful #9453611Carla Capra Anderson June 10, 2011
Hello, my friends.~David, I was on a walk about the neighborhood and heard the bees humm. I moved closer to investigate and was amazed to see so many. All of the flowers where well above my reach, this one was tilting slighting down and allowed me a full view of its center and the bees. I shot this hand held.
~Robert, Thank you. Sadly, I didn't. The blooms where about 12 feet up and well out of my reach.
