Josh, this is a nice treatment on this flower. The pretty much monochrome coloring makes for an interesting mood. Too often we think of monochrome as being simply black and white but that is not the case. You've shown a good example of it here with the lighting and coloring. #1383609

Thanks Dan!

I was pretty happy, but I wish I was able to get a little more definition on the flower. But, I must say for 15 bucks my close up filter isn't too bad. I this pic was also taken mid day in open shade with my on camera flash diffused by a puffer.

I love flash the more I use it. #9451309

Josh, the result you got is a nice picture. It doesn't really have any reason for apology. We do have to consider though that the quality of the glass between the sensor and the subject is going to accout for the results obtained. There is going to be a limit to how well a low cost device in front of even the best glass is going to be able to resolve an image. You might want to consider the device a nice introduction but set a goal toward a dedicated macro lens. In the meantime, just enjoy the possibilities this is offering.

Yes, flash in macro is opens up a world of possibilities. It allows for higher shutter speeds aiding in motion blur reduction and also smaller aperture sizes helping the depth of field and it can help in selective lighting so that even backgrounds can be kept darker while better illuminating the desired parts of a subject. #9451705
