La Plata Still Life
Uploaded: April 24, 2011
My sister has many interesting and pretty Southwestern decorative items in her house. One morning during our stay there I set these three on the end table in the guest bedroom (one wall of which is painted purple, as you see), set up my tripod, and got some shots using natural light. La Plata is the name of the street she lives on :)

No mistaking where this was taken, Nikki! Terrific still-life capture of these southwestern items and the purple wall, with its nubby texture, sets it off beautifully! #9369528Jayne Martin April 28, 2011
Nikki, I love this capture not only b/c of the color of the wall (I had that same color on my condo wall with complementary color of yellow -- I know it sounds bad, but it was quite pretty), but b/c of the right-sided statue of Kokopelli!!! (I used to collect all things Kokopelli) Wikipedia: Fertility deity, usually depicted as a humpbacked flute player (often with a huge phallus and feathers or antenna-like protrusions on his head), who has been venerated by some Native American cultures in the Southwestern United States. Like most fertility deities, Kokopelli presides over both childbirth and agriculture. He is also a trickster god and represents the spirit of music. Great capture! #9378724Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
