Great Shot! #1365145

Thank you, John. This young bird was playing in a small pond in the midst of a large nesting area. A large GBH feather was his toy and he'd stab at it as if fishing then toss it into the air only to do it again. He did manage to catch a small turtle as an appetizer. I had time to add the 2X extender on the f/2.8L 300mm lens yielding fairly good detail. #9323674

Beautiful GBH portrait! #9325416

Thank you Kay and Carol for your comments. I'm beginning to see what I suspect are 2nd and 3rd generations of birds nesting in this area. I say that because they appear to get along in harmony. For 4 years I followed a GBH couple where one was a wurdemann's heron but I can't find her this year. A wurdemann's heron is easily picked out from the others.

We have 4 adult osprey mating here for the 1st time and they enjoy playing high above me in the sky, touching occasionally. I may just spend my afternoons on my back trying to capture such an encounter. :-) One female osprey passed by me at eye-level recently carrying supper. I'll include this photo for you. Nothing great, just surprised to see her at eye-level. #9325832
