Thanks Michelle and Jack for your comments.The blooming of wild ferns ranks among the first real harbingers of spring.
As fiddleheads unfurl and stretch toward the sun, the shapes and designs that will eventually evolve into their final displays of forest green are being daily defined.
I was fortunate to have happened upon this transitional period of developement a few years ago and was truly enamored with the shapes and designs I witnessed before me.
Spotting the Tenthredinidae larva was an unexpected bonus.
