Description

Located on a few miles from my home, this old mill gets its share of photographers. Early yesterday morning I ventured out, walking the wet narrow ledges required to get to a clearing. There was no problem until I had reached a "safe" area (or so I thought). I'm still not sure how it happened, but my cable release caught on something and my Nikon D-300s, Nikon 18-200 lens and Manfrotto tripod went end over end off the ledge crashing onto rocks below. At this point, everything seems to still be working fine. I could not believe it took that kind of fall with only some small scratches.

Exif: F Number: 20, Exposure Bias Value: -0.67, ExposureTime: 1/6 seconds, Flash: did not fire., ISO: 200, White balance: Manual white balance, FocalLength: 28.00 mm, Model: NIKON D300S

Oh my gosh Danny...did you need CPR when this happened? It is a good thing you ended up with this beautiful shot as a result of all of that happening. Love this scene and your comp. #9289974

BEautiful old mill scene Danny.. I can only imagine your scary scene with the equipment in mid air and crashing down. I've had a few similar experiences unfortunately #9289987

Beautiful capture, Danny. Glad you were able to retrieve the equipment and hopefully it will continue to work. Maybe it's like the Timex watch... "takes a lickin' & keeps on tickin'" (telling my age on that one, lol). #9289998

Nikon is a supe camer Danny, I love mine and all my lense... I have been there and it is a neat place but getting in the right location is the challenge..

Since I'm prone to accidents, from the beginning, I bought insurance nd have used it too! One time I set my camera bag down when I was unloading the trunk and went in side and forgot about it and then left to go to the store again and herd a "banging around", stopped got out, went to the back, didn't see anything and left..when I came back my camera bag was in the drive way..I wasn't sure if they covered "stupidity" but they did...said that story always sold their customers to buy insurance! lol

Wonderful shot of the old mill Danny! And that water is up. I wonder if it washed away all the snakes?? LOL Wow, I thought surely your camera was a goner after you posted on my old mill photo. So glad to hear that it still works! I was a bit leery about where I went this last time I was there because of all the Private Property/Keep Out signs. That was new! Never before has there been signs like that. And it can be tricky getting down to some of the rocks. When I was living there and going there to swim, I took a fall coming up from the rocks. Really scraped up my leg! #9306140

Stunning image. Would love to see this beauty! I can't believe your camera is still in one piece, but hey..what do you expect...you have a Nikon! My cord also caught on something and pulled mine down on concrete very hard, but I'm still using it...Nikon must be pretty rugged, huh?
