Lakeside Wetlands

Uploaded: March 04, 2011

Description

Its been two years now since Lake Cathie was open to the sea. When it is open and tidal most days Kangaroos can be seen crossing and feeding on the lakeside grasses.
On this canoe trip I spotted a few Pelicans and the highlight was to see two Sacred Kingfishers. It seems the seasons are changing and several Black Swans flew overhead heading North.
Everyone here is looking forward to seeing the Lake open again and springing back to life with wildlife, fish and birds although there is still great beauty to be found.

By the looks of this, I'll have to make the effort & get back up that way. I like the colours & the angle used to get this image. Well done. #1357922

Beautiful place Brett, if your Kingfishers are anything like ours, they are very hard to capture, well done! #9272764

Certainly looks like a magical spot here. Thank you for thinking of us here in Christchurch Brett. There is a saying, "Christchurch will rise" and you can bet we will. #9274089
