Civil War Santa

Uploaded: December 23, 2010

Description

During the Civil War, famed artist Thomas Nash was particularly outspoken about the abolition of slavery and the reunification of the North and South. He drew many pictures depicting Santa Claus and Christmas life of this era, but his first published drawing of Santa was on January 3, 1863. This classic drawing depicted Santa arriving at a Union camp dressed in stars and stripes and riding in a carriage lead by reindeer.

Wonderful capture with outstanding skin tone and light. The information is also very informative. This Santa looks straight from the north pole. #1338021
