Who Goes There?

Uploaded: November 09, 2010

Description

-----
Two sentries greeted me as I came up the driveway late last Saturday afternoon. They think they OWN the place.
-------
As destructive as they are (besides chomping down the landscaping, their "springing" has toppled the foreground retaining wall twice so far), I don't discourage the herds that wander the property. BUT...it definitely is important to check for deer ticks regularly!

Fabulous capture of these two beautiful does. Two Summers ago I did contact Lyme disease from an infected deer tick. After long antibiotic therapy I'm fine. It does not certainly keep me out of the woods but I'm more careful. Worst time for ticks is Spring and Summer. #9022503

Aimee S. McMaster November 09, 2010

...agreed Carolyn...love my deer...this is an awesome capture Michelle! well done! #9022504

Jack Gaskin November 09, 2010

Now your just showing off ;o) BEAUTIFUL !!!!!
Have friends w/a Vac. place up in Eastern PA. that boarders a HUGE tract of state land.
Only thing more destructive than the deer are the Black Bears. YET THEY ARE A WONDER TO WATCH & ENJOY from a safe distance .... Although they some times get a bit INTRUSIVE like it or not...

Happy Shooting

Your own private lawn ornaments, how cool! Nice capture Maichelle.
FYI, we have deer in abundance here also, but word this fall is the hunters and hikers are reporting no fawns or young deer around this fall. This is probably because we also are over run with coyotes here in South Western Ont.
Not real good news as far as the Deer are concerned. #9022538

Such life-like statuary you have Michelle :0) Terrific shot! Our deers keep everything mowed off except what needs to be mowed. I think our unusually cold winter spawned a good number of deer this year--it seems they are everwhere here also. #9022730

Just like Gord we have a pack of Coyotes that have moved in. They are killing and carrying off all of our Jack Rabbits and outdoor kitties! It as been a nightmare! We hear screeching from cats fighting for their lives in the night.

What a beautiful scene, Michelle. How exciting that you had your camera on hand!

What a neat capture, Michelle! I know what you mean as they have destroyed several of our trees. I finally left one they riddled last year as a sacrificial tree. #9023692

Great capture. Indeed these guys can cause a swath of damage in their wake (besides the ticks). Some fruit growers at the edge of town I know fight a constant (and losing) battle. #9024437

Rona L. Schwarz November 09, 2010

Fantastic capture of these two, Michelle! Can't believe they are so tame and bold...they are lovely, but wreck havoc with gardens. Wonderful image! #9024651

We have several deer living nearby, except for finding one dead in the back yard they have never caused any problems.

This is a great shot, Michelle. #9024763

I was going to say I wish I had these in my yard until I read about the Ticks!! I seem to be wearing a sign that attracts them. So I'll say, how lucky you are to have these in your yard. They are beautiful & well worth the sacrifice of a few plants=^..^= #9026327
