High Tea Treats

Uploaded: October 17, 2010

Description

Photographed at a Hens' Party 17 Oct 2010. The treats looked almost too good to eat (but we did a pretty good job at demolishing the towers!).

Jane, I like the lines created by the structure and the "vanishing background" and yes, the appeal of the treats. I am curious about the story though. Though ashamed for not understanding it all in spite of my British heritage I have not grasped the notion of "high tea" (as opposed to just ordinary tea time). You said "destroying the towers". So perhaps you would be so kind as to fill in the mystery. :-)

Thanks for the nice comments. Dan - high tea is a term used by somewhat ponsy hotels to justify charging an exorbitant amount of money for afternoon tea! Traditionally in Englidh terms high tea is actually a working class man thing undertaken at 5pm, but now this usage seems more common - high as in high class (or high priced or high towers/tiers!). As for demolish - lets just say we were very full and were on a sugar high! #8984594

Thanks Jane. I knew it was for the posh people :-) but wasn't sure if there was a technical definition to distinguish it from normal tea. So that's just it. For the, what I call, "white tablecloth" crowd, LOL. Guess you can tell I'm not comfortable at the Ritz. LOL #8984605

Dan neither am I! Definitely more of a 'cheap and cheerful' kind of restaurant goer! Oh well, a good one off experience - I won't be doing it every week! #8984613
