Description

Cedar Island Lighthouse is located within the Cedar Point County Park in East Hampton, New York. As a rule I do not ever post comments on this web site about any organization nor do I solicit funds for any of the causes I personally support. In this case I am going to make an exception. Lighthouses are an important part of our maritime history. Research the history of any lighthouse and you will find both tragic stories of nautical disasters and tales of heroic human actions. This beautiful lighthouse should be restored to its former grandeur to remind all the inhabitants of Long Island of the brave people who guarded our coasts for the sailors and fishermen who navigated these often treacherous waters.

Exif: F Number: 16, Exposure Bias Value: -0.67, ExposureTime: 10/4000 seconds, Flash: did not fire., ISO: 200, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 42.00 mm, Model: NIKON D300

Way to go, Greg! Great image and an excellent cause to support. Many lights have been saved and many others are in the process...and this one certainly looks like it is worth restoration. Well done!!! #1317424

Thanks you for the feedback. If you ever get to Long Island this light is worth the trip. I planned on photographing a lot more lighthouses (26) than I did (15) but it was a great trip. My brothers son got married and it was a great wedding. #8972962
