I Love My Shoes
Uploaded: September 09, 2010
This man on the street seemed utterly pleased and fascinated by what seemed to be a new pair of sneakers for him. I found it endearing. Rome, Italy.

Welcome back, Patti!Phillip R. Connolly September 11, 2010
It is interesting what takes our focus in life, Patti! Maybe we would exhibit a similar facination with a brand new DSLR as our friend in the image does with his shoes! If we had nothing to start with, a new pair of shoes would be something very special, no doubt! A great capture here that places what we may consider this poor unfortunate deep in his environment! If only I could give him a new shirt! Excellent!Phil #8894794

I love HIS shoes! ... and I love this capture, Patti! You took what was probably an unnoticed moment by everyone else and turned it into a beautiful photo op! Glad you were thinking outside the box! Fabulous poignant capture with wonderful treatment, my friend! :) #8898257Patti Coblentz September 13, 2010
What a nice compliment, Lorna...thank you :)Laura E. Swan September 13, 2010
A very important time for him that you caught. Another 1 or so minutes and these special events in time for him would have been gone.Cool that you cloned out the people. So be it. That was his frame of thought anyway likely.
I, too, love his 60's pants. I'd say he might even be a fun character had you spoken to him. :)))
WELCOME HOME, Patti! We missed you around here!

Outstanding, Patti! This is what traveling is all about for a photographer. You have captured an interesting moment, a fascinating character, and I love the interplay between the lines in the grate and his pants.Patti Coblentz September 14, 2010
Thanks, Steve. I almost cropped out the grating but liked that it gave context to the scene + as you pointed out, I liked the interplay of the lines :) #8900875Steve M. Harrington September 14, 2010
I am glad you left it. The context is important and I just realized it also provides nice leading lines to his shoes. This really is a sophisticated image. #8900880Patti Coblentz September 14, 2010
