I like this a lot Aimee. It's reminiscence of a young cub peaking out from the protective cover of a mother lion. Lovely soft treatment with wonderful color matching of the background. The background lighting is a very nice touch. #1293281

Jeff E Jensen 7/30/2010 4:33:56 PM

Two thumbs up for this one Aimee! #8796009

Peter W. Marks 7/30/2010 5:04:39 PM

Wow Aimee, I do believe I have finally got through to our ancient friend and he is now seeing 'stories' in images. He will be writing poetry next!
very nice image and I for one would like to know how you set this up and what pp you used. Will you share please? #8796074

Michael Kelly 7/30/2010 9:36:27 PM

This is a beauty Aimee. I love the tones and the BG color is perfect. Just great the way it is and ready to print and hang. #8796632

Susan M. Reynolds 7/31/2010 10:51:12 AM

Beautiful, Aimee. I too, love the BG tones and lighting. #8797347

Rita K. Connell 7/31/2010 1:22:24 PM

I believe you have a winner here...this is a awesome picture very well put together. your lighting on both of them is very nice. you get two more thumbs up from me. #8797503

Aimee C. Eisaman 8/1/2010 11:14:42 AM

Thanks my Phellos! I'm very happy with this one and think it's going to end up my favorite from the photo walk. I'll show ya all the original and say that I did add a texture to it and did use a Florabella filter to get the intial look of richness I wanted. I did some selective blurring, some burning of highlights and added a vignette, also applied a high pass filter to key areas on the flowers.

I'm so sorry I'm not able to give step by step directions to how I do things. When ending I have no logical process of work. I just open the image and what jumps out at me first is what I work on then once that is done I'm inspired by something else in the image. I almost never know what the end result of a photo will be until I get there. I know Dale will work diligently for weeks even to devise a process to get a certain look from images....I really applaud him for that. Not an easy task! :~) #8799349

Dale Hardin 8/1/2010 1:06:37 PM

Aimee, I work that way also and then try to remember what the heck I did!! Labeling the layers has helped me retain a bit from time to time.

The bottom line is that you had a very good image with excellent DOF and good composition to start with. So not only did you achieve photographic excellence when taking the shot but placed the frosting on the cake with out standing creativity during the post processing. Your skill is growing in leaps and bounds. #8799514

Aimee C. Eisaman 8/1/2010 1:17:38 PM

O Dale thank you for making me feel better! LOL I have been working lately on getting better exposure and DOF in camera! :~) #8799524

Peter W. Marks 8/1/2010 5:03:12 PM

And all the above beautifully explains why I never get winners. What can't be photogrsphed in five minutes I pass by and what takes over ten minutes of head-scratching in Photoshop merely confirms I should have taken longer to make the image in the first place!
But I do take longer chosing the bon mot in my writing. :0) #8799986

Ellen H. Robertson 8/1/2010 5:14:37 PM

This is beautiful. Love the treatment and the texture.

I would have been extremely happy with the original and you took it to a magical place. #8800009

Carla Capra 8/2/2010 7:05:05 AM

WOW, Aimee!
I'm slightly familiar with some of the techniques you've used; blur, burn, high pass. The others well, swoosh flying over my head, lol. A beautiful transition and wonderful editing!!

Teresa H. Hunt 8/2/2010 6:56:25 PM

Aimee this image is stunning! Your original is beautiful!

I am seriously going to have to talk you into giving me an editing lesson! LOL! #8802266

Aimee C. Eisaman 8/2/2010 7:27:43 PM

Peter....I get aggrivated if I can't spend some time on photographing one thing. The photowalk was nice, but I had to leave what I was working on all the time because the group was moving on. I guess we all have our ways!!! :~) Thanks!

Thank you Ellen I had wanted to enter this as my photowalk contest entry, but I already put the butterflies in and for some reason the site won't let me change it even though they have a button for that. :~)

:~) Carla....I'm certain that you know more than you think after seen the work you do. Don't worry one day you'll be working on an image and light bulbs will come on....happens to me all the time. that's what that button does! LOL Thanks!

Teresa you want lessons from someone that can't remember how I did it! LOL You crack me up! :~) Thank you though you make me smile! #8802372

Michael Kelly 9/15/2010 2:54:37 PM

Congrats Aimee! #8904650

Teresa H. Hunt 9/15/2010 7:32:24 PM

Oh yes, this would look fantastic on metallic paper.

Congrats on your Finalist!! #8905365

Michael Kelly 9/15/2010 7:48:36 PM

I would go with it on a mat type paper. Perhaps a watercolor rag. Definitely not a glossy for these great tones. #8905517

Carla Capra 9/15/2010 7:50:05 PM

Congratulations on your finalist!

This would look really good as a canvas gallery wrap as well. #8909640

Aimee C. Eisaman 9/16/2010 2:55:16 PM

Thanks for the ideas on printing. Well it's between metallic and matte. I'd love to do a canvas wrap, but I'd lose the comp because it's so close the to edges. :~) #8909844
