Male Painted Bunting
Uploaded: July 20, 2010
Out looking for birds to photograph in the Texas Hill Country I spotted the Painted Bunting (Passerina ciris). No other bird looks this way. The males have distinctive blue head, red chest, greenish yellow back and the wings and tail are gray. These males are very territorial and will fight other males for their territory. Taken with Canon 20D, ISO 400, 300 mm Focal length, F/8 and 1/500 sec
Exif: F Number: 8, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 1/500 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 400, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 300.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 20D

Beautiful bird and so special that we get to see both sides of him. Terrific details, lighting and comp. You are giving me a new impression of Texas. We've only gone across the panhandle a few times and didn't see any green then, except in the cities. Very nice captures. #10146501Emile Abbott May 23, 2012
