Blue Curls (Fiddleneck)

Phacelia congesta is identified by its tightly curled flower head. It grows 30" tall and the flowers are blue to lavender at the top of the plant in a tightly curled flower head that gradually unfolds as the buds bloom. Each flower has 5 petals and 5 stamens (which spread widely and have conspicuous yellow anthers. Photographed at Big Satan shelter in Val Verde Co. IS0 100, F/6.5, 1/320 handheld in RAW.
