A beautiful capture, Courtenay! Sorry about your unreadable card. That must be very frustrating. #1273896

Tammy M. Anderson 5/31/2010 4:38:04 AM

Very disappointing. But this is wonderful, Courtenay. Excellent composition and colors. #8654389

Carolyn M. Fletcher 5/31/2010 4:46:32 AM

Wow,that's too bad. But this is so good you couldn't have done better anyway! #8654404

Danny B. Head 5/31/2010 5:02:28 AM

Never had a card to do that and I hope I never will. Nevertheless, great image! #8654437

Linda D. Lester 5/31/2010 5:14:44 AM

Beautiful colors...sorry about the card! Bummer! #8654471

Val Feldman 5/31/2010 5:46:14 AM

Beautiful crisp colors and capture, Courtenay...a wonderful Memorial Day tribute....and sorry about the card - they are always so reliable that you have to wonder what made this one go kaput!? Great recovery act, tho...this is a wonderful image! :) #8654530

Sabrina Ryan 5/31/2010 5:59:55 AM

Nicely composed and beautifully captured, Courtenay! #8654541

Nikki McDonald 5/31/2010 6:17:58 AM

I would never have guessed this was a substitute for anything, Courtenay. It is wonderfully composed and captured. I love the texture of the fabric, the loose folds and the brilliance of the color in this full frame. Perfect for Memorial Day. #8654576

Ron McEwan 5/31/2010 6:31:34 AM

You were able to recover well to post on this Memorial Day after all.

I dread to come home after miles of hiking of which I will never return and find an empty or unreadable card, was this a new card or one that you have used before. I screwed up about 600 images of the smokies. #8654598

Patrick Rouzes 5/31/2010 7:06:39 AM

That sucks, Courtenay! Most can relate to this frustration! Wonderful colors, detail, clarity & comp here! You did great with what you had! WTG! #8654628

Jeana Clark 5/31/2010 7:21:41 AM

Oh No!!!!
so sorry to hear!
I don't know what I'd do if that
happened to me...I better find some
wood to knock on!!! LOL!!!
Regardless...this is PERFECT for this
day!!! Beautifully captured BDB!!!

Sam Britt 5/31/2010 7:46:14 AM

Beautiful Memorial Day tribute, Courtenay. Sorry about your unreadable memory card. I had that problem about 5 years ago. I think it was damaged by using the card reader slots on my PC. I transfer my images directly from camera to PC now. No problems since. #8654688

Diane Garcia 5/31/2010 8:16:01 AM

Thank you for this beautiful memorial. It is very fitting to have the frayed edges to show such endurance of freedom. #8654770

Kerry Hill 5/31/2010 10:32:21 AM

Wonderful image with fabulous colours Courtenay! #8655068

Monnie Ryan 5/31/2010 10:52:49 AM

Oh no -- guess that's one reason I'm reluctant to use the higher capacity cards. I had one fail, but the recovery software did the job. So sorry your photos were lost! But you've compensated beautifully -- love the textures in this old flag! #8655145

Patti Coblentz 5/31/2010 11:00:03 AM

Well, the card failure yielded something good...this image is brilliant, Courtenay..I love the full frame of your composition with the perfect lighting and terrific texture!

Patti #8655167

Leslie McLain 5/31/2010 11:12:03 AM

Terrific capture and colors, Courtenay. Sorry to hear about your card failure, how awful. #8655216

Ken Smith 5/31/2010 12:03:14 PM

I agree with Nikki...can't imagine anything better than this, but I am sorry you lost your card. Hopefully you can recreate some of them. Super work on this one! #8655350

Mike Clime 5/31/2010 1:24:08 PM

Well this one turned out great and it has some history to it too! Sorry about the card! #8655543

Courtenay Vanderbilt 5/31/2010 3:25:26 PM

Many thanks for your kind words and condolences!

~ Sam, I believe you are correct! I lost faith in the card reader last night and will now only use my camera cable!

~Ron, this was a card I had used many times. I was able to view the images on my camera but it failed when I went to download them via the card reader.

MELODIE C. ROBERTS 5/31/2010 6:06:29 PM

Shirley A. Kinney 6/1/2010 7:01:22 PM

Great "recovery" photo Courtenay. I have been there, done that with the card which is why I also don't use the higher capacity cards. One time will put a fear in you. But this is beautiful anyway. I appreciate all the tributes as my son, Shane, has served in the Navy for 21 years and is on a sub somewhere out in the big ocean for the next several months. #8658853

A wonderful award for your Courtenay. Iv been traveling and not much time to view my friends galleries. We have all had our cards fail. My recovery worked and I was so thankful and stressed out.
You poor thing. My thoughts are with you.

I've never had a card completely fail me! All the images I took hoping to commemorate this day are on a card that is now completely unreadable! Even recovery software will not work. :-( So, I have this small flag (which incidentally has only 48 stars) at home which I photographed instead. Have a happy and safe holiday.
