~ THE WHEAT LADY ~

Uploaded: May 27, 2010

Description

For the past week, we have been busy in the fields...the finishing soybean planting and walking the wheat fields pulling rye. It is also called feral rye, also known as volunteer rye. It is a winter annual grass weed that reduces wheat yield, grain quality and grade. We get docked at our co-op for having rye in our wheat, so, it's best to pull it before it makes seed. At times it can even be rejected at the elevator as millers and bakers do not want rye seed in with wheat seed. We also save some back for the next crop planting. If there is rye seed in the seed that is saved...it will be in your next crop of wheat. Something we don't want...While walking the fields one afternoon, camera with me, I spotted this lady bug upon a head of green wheat. I noticed when editing this image that she only had 2 spots on her...kind of hard to see here as I wanted to include the entire wheat head.
I guess being a wheat farmers wife, I too, am a Wheat Lady!

Amazing image, Jeana. I can see the two dots! I always wondered what is the meaning behind the number of dots... Love your little essay here. Have a wonderful day! Joanna #8647228

Thanks Jeff..JP..Joanna..

This is all I could find in the last five minutes regarding the spots/dots on a lady bug and what they mean....

Symbolic meaning of the Ladybug:

Perhaps best known as an emblem of luck. When a Ladybug lands on you, it is said your wish will come true.

Asian traditions hold to the belief that if caught and then released, the Ladybug will faithfully fly to your true love and whisper your name in his/her ear. Upon hearing the Ladybug’s message your true love will hurry his/her way to your side.

In Ireland, the Ladybug is said to be a symbol of protection.

Ancient farmers of the land have considered the Ladybug a good omen as she controls aphid populations.

As a love symbol, this insect totem has been the subject of many wive’s tales in which the number of spots on a Ladybug’s back is said to indicate the number of months to pass before the wish for love comes true.

Not sure if it's true or not, butdoesn't hurt to be a
little romantic right?? LOL!!!!
And who wants aphids anyway?!?

ENJOT YHE DAY!!!
