Ace looks even more handsome than I ever thought possible in this beautiful evening light Jeff...I think the comp works very well too... #1269351

This is wonderful with that soft, golden sunset lighting. Nice capture. #8616073

Love the light. The sky and BG was perfect for your shoot and the results are very nice. The colors are just amazing. The long shadow adds to the shot as does the texture produced by the strong side light of late afternoon. #8617445

Thanks all! Of course, this was before he managed to take a seat in the water. . . . #8617463

How funny is that!! Looks like it might be easy to tip over. I am so afraid of taking a good camera to the beach! The sky is beautifully saturated. Totally believable! Glad you guys have are such good photo buddies. #8617815

I was going to ask if this was before or after. But Dale you do look too comfortable to have a wet seat and shoes full of sand.

Agree the light is beautiful and those clouds are great. #8618136

Pretty sneaky Jeff. I didn't know you'd managed to capture me on my knees. Actually I was praying for a good shot. :o)

But hey guys!! How come no one got on Jeff about the centerline horizon like they did on my shot of Jeff?

Have to admit though that the comp is good, the shadows add a lot of interest, the sky is grand and the subject matter extremely interesting. #8618473

Yup - the sky the waves and blue ocean the buildings in the upper left - if it just wasn't for the guy with the camera this would have had a lot going for it. #8618528

Thanks all!

Here's a couple more of the master at work. #8618568

I like the square crop one a lot Jeff. The flying water and placement of Dale along the edge of the frame give it a dynamic feel.

Although Jeffs horizon line is placed close to the middle like yours was Dale, I think the long horizontal comp, the buildings on the left that break up the horizon, and the wedge shape of the water all make it less obvious. Your vertical comp, on the other hand, appears as a square of sky placed on top of a sqaure of land and water, which I think makes the central location of the horizon a bit more obvious..

You have a good eye for the obvious Mike. LOL spotted the distraction right away.

Your assessment is right on Tony, accurate with excellent logic. Like I said, I like your crop but was going for something else with this shot. Too early to see if it works or not. :o)

Jeff, I like both these shots. Especially the square crop. I'd like to keep them for my archives so have taken the liberty to make myself look a little better. An almost impossible task I know, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. #8619621

Thanks Tony. I also like the Square one. I had to place him pretty tight along the side as there were a couple of other people just to the right of him that I wanted out.

Dale - I will send you the original RAW files for these three images so that you have them. #8619651

great capture of the master at work. I love all of them. it looks like you had a beautiful day and alot of fun together. well we are on our last day of vacation and we will be leaving seattle with it raining. this afternoon is suppose to be sunny so we are going to venture down into the city rain or shine one more time to get to the famous fish market where they throw the fish. could be interesting.

great picture jeff #8619900

Great shots! I really like the original post with the evening light.

I also like your square crop. Dale looks a little worried about that wave! :) #8620425

Kathleen Nealon May 18, 2010

I think the square comp is great. It makes me want to know what is going on so it keeps my attention the longest.

The horizon line in the first image doesn't bother me so much because it's in the middle of the shot but because it slices through Dale's head. #8620448

Jeff E Jensen May 18, 2010

Thanks you ladies. I also like the square image, I need to go back and spend a little more time on it. #8620481

Loving the square comp of Dale and the wave :) #8620513

....looking at "the master at work" I was wondering Jeff why you didn't explain to the old codger that there are two little clips on each of the tripod legs and that pulling them out lets the legs slide out so that he wouldn't have to kneel down in the damp sand. But then, when you are working with a guy who goes on about the 'insignificance of Man' I guess his humility is understandable! lol

Beautiful location and nice images Jeff. #8621824

Dale Hardin May 19, 2010

So THAT'S what those little levers are for!!! NOW you tell me! I feel so, so, uh ....... humbleized. #8621923
