RUGGED BEAUTY

Uploaded: May 08, 2010

Description

D90 Tamron 18-270@18 mm

Taken in the Valley of Fire mid way between Rainbow Vista and White Domes. This was a spot were we did a bit of walking away from the Scenic pull-off area and went out on the Rocks. I thought this one of the MOST MEMORABLE VISTAS of a place that speaks of desert beauty & isolation... Hard to explain how much more ALIVE this view is with the Plant life Green & Alive as opposed to COOKED OUT by the soon to come HOTTER TEMPS...

Exif: F Number: 5.3, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 10/4000 seconds, Flash: did not fire., ISO: 200, White balance: Manual white balance, FocalLength: 78.00 mm, Model: NIKON D90

Really a magnificent view of this amazing area, Jack. You've done a beautiful job. I agree about the green stuff, but you were also fortunate to have the lovely clouds in the sky. A solid deep blue sky really detracts from this sort of scene, which shows here at its best! #8596466

I wish I had more time to get out and about there. Love this shot Jack, yes I do believe spring is the best time to visit the desert. Even by now it will be showing the torture the hot sun has on the plants. #8596819

I can imagine just why this striking desert scene was such a "memorable vista" for you, Jack!! It's a really fabulous capture of the rugged beauty, colours, textures and light here...and your composition and the sky both are excellent, too!! :o) #8598767
