Oh, Oh...I'm first. I don't thing I have ANY pictures with this kind of POV where the rows of fields are fanning out. I love the vivid jewel tones you have here. Is this in California? Did you take with a tripod? I don't see anything that needs to be straightened, cropped or flipped so what else can I say? I think when we put up landscapes we need to tell where. If I enter under Travel and Place I generally do but often forget about landscapes. #1265449

The rows go forever.

I have always wanted a shot like this but never could get it. Love the color of the sky.

Have we seen a shot of this field when the plants are bigger?

I agree with Debbie, where is this? #8589131

thanks Debbie and Ellen. I took this very early in the morning while visiting friends in Tulare, Calif. Last year I took a similar image which the club helped me with. The crops were bigger and there were trees in the background which were removed and birds added.

I did use a tripod because it was just after dawn and it was overcast. This is the natural light but I did add a bit of gradient to open the darker area near the horizon. #8589810

I thought of that bird image as soon as I saw this one Dale, hopefully it will do as well in the contest.

My only issue is that I dont' think the dark and somewhat foreboding tones fit well with the title. #8590357

Very interesting image Dale. I took one similar to this a year or so ago around here.

I agree with Tony that the Title doesn't quite match the tones in the image. #8590407

Thanks guys. I agree totally on the title. I really struggled trying to come of with one that worked. Suggestions? Please! #8590646

Teresa H. Hunt May 05, 2010

Well I can't help with a title. But I will say . . . after reading your title I figured this was a shot of new plants. But I had to look really hard to see the green in the dirt. Can you seperate the green and the dirt a bit so the plants are more noticable? Of course if you change your title it probably wouldn't be a big deal.

Love the sky. Reminds me of the fields in Minnesota. They go on forever. :) #8591308

Dale, what a beautiful sky and the lines are fantastic. I too have always wanted an image like this.
But since there are no flowers as of yet, I would really like to see a point of interest in the field. Perhaps an old tractor, something to add a bit of color in the foreground. Something yellow would complement the sky perfectly
I would love to hear what the other Phellos think about this since noone else has mentioned this point. #8591330

Thought we had seen this field before.

I love it as is, I like that there is nothing but the lines.

Titles are not my strong point, but what about "Infinity" although it does end way back there. #8591584

It looks like it could be night so how bout "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil"? Congrats on the EP BTW! #8591774

Love the lovely sky and perfect lines/POV. Congratulations on your EP too! How about "Daybreak On The Demesne"?
demesne just means an estate or part of an estate occupied and controlled by, and worked for the exclusive use of, the owner. Kind of corny, do you think? #8591920

An awesome EP image...gives me chills looking at it because the sky is so powerful! :~) #8592905

Dale Hardin May 06, 2010

Thanks everyone. Didn't realize I had an EP on this. Need to look more often I guess.

Won't be adding anything to this because it is a different image than the first one I posted last year. This image was facing North after a storm and it was almost dark.

The other was facing South and was intended as an art piece. I'd replaced the sky, deleted the landscape, and added birds. Two different looks for a similar subject. I actually like the art piece better but am very happy with how the low light image came out. #8593031

I love 'the Other field'. It is an artistic image. The lines in the field pull my eyes directly to the birds and then my eyes go back to look at your fantastically processed field and back and forth. Great image. #8593125

Thanks Kathe. This is the result of a lot of help from the Phellos last year. #8593133

I like it a lot Dale! The tones and the mood it sets are wonderful. I see the young plants so I think the title is OK, but perhaps something to go along with the more somber mood would be slightly better. Fall Hopes or something along those lines?

Both photos are great and I would be proud to have them on my wall. #8593271

Long Row to Hoe!

Love the colours.... I often take shots of furrows, and plough pattern, but usually scrap them because I thought I was the only one that noticed them LOL #8594078

Thanks so much Mike and Joan. #8595157
