I would like to know where this picture was taken. It's simply beautiful. #420772

Cody, this image was taken at Hearst Castle, I was there a couple of years ago and this is one of the breathtaking scenes there. The place is so large that there is more than one tour available. Hearst Castle is locted about halfway between Santa Barbara and San Francisco, give or take. #2608423

Hi Grayden,

I don't have the specifics as I created this back in the old days, when I was still using that stuff they call 'film' :)

But I can remember that it was a small aperture (represented by a large f/stop number). My best guess would be f/22 but it might be f/16

Thanks,

I swam in this pool.

I did my photojournalism internship here in 1979, cataloging artifacts and developing black and white film in a basement darkroom next to the bowling lane. (Not the best choice for an internship if I wanted to work as a photojournalist but I was incredibly shy at the time and I guess my adviser thought I wouldn't be intimidated by 2,000-year-old Grecian urns.) Anyway, there are two pool parties for the workers during the summer.

When I left college, I took a graphic-arts camera job at a newspaper (shooting art for ads), not realizing that it would be hard to get into the newsroom later on. Twenty years later, I bought a couple refurbished Canon 20Ds, intent on getting back in the business. Betterphoto.com is a great site, Jim, full of inspiring images, talented instructors and the best group of critiquing members I found on the net. Thank you.

(Someday I'll scan some of my slides that I took during my 8 months at The Castle.)
