Attentive Coati
Uploaded: April 15, 2010
For years I have been trying to get a good shot of the Coati at the Denver Zoo finally my patience paid off. This photo was recognized by a zoo official as one of the best they have ever seen. This little guy usually hides out in the shadows so I was so happy when he ventured into the sunlight.
Coatis communicate their intentions or moods with chirping, snorting, or grunting sounds. Different chirping sounds are used to express joy during social grooming, appeasement after fights, or to convey irritation or anger.
