Bloodroot blooms for a very short time in early spring. A pure white blossom with a golden crown in the center is wrapped by one large leaf. Another early spring bloomer, Spring Beauty, is in the background. Tacoma Hills Nature Preserve, Okemos, MI

The clarity of your picture is stunning, Mike.Btw, my introduction to a Bloodroot was just last weekend at CNC. Closed up, it looked like a teeny weeny itty bitty Tulip. I had wondered what it looked like while open (and, now I know.) #8539109
