WOW Josh, truly amazing work. I love the dramatic lighting, the close-up and the clarity you have captured. Also, the color of her eyes really stand out here in a subtle way. Beautiful capture. #2247416

hi all, I m sorry but I disagree with all. I m not professional photographer and I see lot of problems with this picture. 1. one eye is dark and barely visible.2. the shot is taken at close distance with person looking directly at lense leading to " squint" of eyes. 3. since picture is taken at close distance, there is coning of face..with nose and mouth projecting forward like that of wolf or dog. this is caused either because lense too close to face or inappropriate zoom. 4. unfortunately the point of maximum focus is upper two mugg teeth. the coning effect makes them little magnified as well.

terrible shot. please tell me honestly did the girl beat you up and you put shot on web as a revenge? #2277534

Just out of curiousity, what makes you think that both eyes MUST be lit?

She isn't squinting at all. I used a 50mm f/1.8 and I was about five feet away from the model. Also, proximity of one person to another doesn't cause squinting.

There is no "coning" of the face from barrel distortion. If I had shot this tight on this model with a 85mm or a 200mm there still would be no distortion. Distortion comes from the inability of a lens to compensate for the angle of view. A 'normal' focal length like the 50mm would not cause that.

But thank you for being so moved by my photo that you felt compelled to speak your mind. #2278304
