Demolition Begins
--------
The water remediation team arrived early yesterday morning. The ceiling and wall of this room (and another) in our 85-year-old (plus) house had to be ripped out to be dried out. This was the beginning. Believe it or not, there was no insulation in this wall. You're looking at old, rotted dry wall, right against the outer stone.
---
One good thing is that with the renovation, we will be able to add insulation.
----
By the time the guys left last night, all the mess was cleaned up, and about five dehumidifying machines not unlike the ones I posted yesterday, were at work. Once dried, everything will be treated with anti-microbial and anti-mold "stuff."
----
Then the remediation steps on the roof above will be done, while renovation below begins.
-----
I'm feeling happier already.
