Purchasing a New Lens

Hi Everyone, I have a Canon T1i, which I love! But for a gift, my husband bought me a fisheye, and wide-angle lenses. I have 2 lenses, 18-55 & 55-250. Is there a better lens than what I have? Thank you!

There's not really a right answer to your question, without knowing what your main shooting interests are. Ultra-wide angle is a unique (and sometimes challenging) focal length; personally, I love it. Your 18 - 250 range from your two lenses covers a lot of useful ranges for travel, walk-about, etc., but may not adequately handle macro, and wouldn't be as useful for say, bird photography, etc.

Both of your zooms probably deliver excellent image quality, but a camera as compact as your T1i begs for a very compact carry around lens.

The old EF 24mm f 2.8 operates like a 38mm on crop sensor, is lighter and produces decent image quality for only a little money.

The 40mm f 2.8 is a great bargain, for $150. It is so short it can be mistaken for a lens cap, but is delightfully sharp, even at f 2.8, blurs backgrounds smoothly and focuses so closely, that flower and other close up work become possible. (It's not a macro, however) On your APS-C sensor, it's a great portrait lens.

Did you find your lens? Not knowing what you shoot, but I bought the 18-250mm as mentioned by Chris. It fits most shooting situations outdoors. I do used a 2.8 24-70 for indoor shoots. As you know, the less you change your lens, the better (dust). But if you shoot a lot of landscape, with or without people, the wide angle would be very useful.
