Travel Lens

My best lens bit the dust and I would like to replace it. I shoot Canon and would like to know what is the best lens for interiors and what is the best lens for travel. Does anyone have experience with the Canon 18-135 or the 24 mm 2.8? Thanks.

  Hi Harriet,
I use my 24-70mm & 70-200mm lenses the most for travel.
I may carry a 17-40mm or 100-400mm if I dont mind carrying the extra weight but rarely do unless I know what I am going to shoot beforehand. I do carry a carbon fiber tripod and believe it is essential and worth its weight.
I would love to get the Canon 14mm L lens but its pricey ($2000). It works well for interiors and landscapes alike. I shoot full frame as well so if you are using an APC sensor, I would recommend the 16-35mm or the 17-40mm. I shot with a 40D and a 10-22mm lens in Europe and captured some fantastic images with that combo.
Thats my .02

Hi Harriet. When you say bit the dust, what does that mean? Is it worth getting it fixed? KEH in Geaorgia has some pretty great deals on used equipment, refurbished, fixed, etc. and I would recommend looking at their site. If it needs repairing, look at their prices for repairing equipment.
